To create water-soluble CBD, it must be re-engineered in a laboratory. This process is patented, so the exact details of the process are not shared. CBD oil is converted to a powder, which transforms the oil into micro-sized pieces. The small pieces need to be encapsulated with non-toxic materials in order to stay stable. Curcumin is added to CBD oil molecules to make them more water-soluble. Referring to the oil as water-soluble is more of a marketing term and is a bit misleading, as the compounds in hemp-derived CBD oil cannot dissolve.
