Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

How can Treatibles benefit my pet?

Full spectrum hemp oil can be very effective in helping to ease anxiety, promoting healthy joints and digestion, maintaining the body’s normal inflammatory response, addressing discomfort, loss of appetite, nausea, end of life comfort and more.

How long after I administer the product to my pet should I expect to see results?

According to the feedback we receive from pet parents, benefits are evident between five minutes and one hour, averaging around twenty minutes. Every pet is different. We recommend that you observe your pet’s response. If there isn’t a noticeable change within the hour, offer an additional half or full serving. Treatibles are non-toxic and non-psychoactive.

How long will results last?

Generally, results last 4 – 8 hours. Some pets do well on one serving per day, while others require two to three.

Are results immediate or cumulative?

Benefits are usually observed in anywhere from five minutes to one hour. For some pets with more severe issues, it may take a week or two of two servings per day to saturate the system and provide desired results.

Are Treatibles safe to give daily?

Yes. Treatibles are non-toxic and non-psychoactive.

Can Treatibles be given for extended periods of time?

Yes, Treatibles are safe for extended use and beneficial especially for pets suffering from joint discomfort, anxiety, and other maladies.

How are serving size recommendations from Treatibles determined?

For dogs and horses, we generally recommend 1 mg for every 10lbs of body weight. Based on what pet parents have shared with us (as well as our own personal experiences), cats often require 1.5 – 2 mg per every 10lbs of body weight. We base our serving size recommendations on what veterinary experts recommend, which is .2 5mg/kg – 2 mg/kg.  Because customers in the U.S. are more familiar with pounds than kilograms, we translate this information to be stated in pounds.  That said, .25mg/kg is comparable to .25mg/2.2lb.  We encourage pet parents to increase as needed.  Many animals with high anxiety or joint discomfort often require more than 1mg per every 10lbs.  We have had customers report the need to increase the serving size to 2mg/kg, which is the same as 2mg/2.2lb.

How can I determine how many milligrams is appropriate for my pet?

We recommend 1 mg of full spectrum hemp oil per every 10lbs of a pet’s weight (often more for a cat). For example, a 20lb dog would receive two small chews, half of a large chew, or 6 – 7 drops of oil from the 250 mg dropper bottle. For large pets, we recommend one large chew per every 40lbs of bodyweight. Keep in mind, this is only a guide. Every pet is a unique individual. Some may need more, some may need less. You know your pet better than anyone.

How often should I administer Treatibles each day?

We have found that the effects from Treatibles last anywhere from 4 – 8 hours. Some pets do well with only one serving per day, some require two or three.

Is it possible for a pet to overdose on Treatibles?

Because Treatibles are non-toxic and non-psychoactive, pets cannot overdose.

Which ingredients in Treatibles products are organic?

Our full spectrum hemp oil and MCT coconut oil are both organic.

Are Treatibles products GMO free?

Our suppliers have assured us that all ingredients in Treatibles products are GMO-free.

Which Treatibles products offer the best value?

It can depend on the size of your pet, if you have a multiple pet household and even on your pet’s preference. Generally speaking, our 750 mg dropper bottle oil is an excellent value. The high potency mean fewer drops are needed per serving. For example, an 80lb dog offered the 750 mg oil would start with a suggested serving size of 8 drops. Based on two servings per day, the total would be 16 drops per day. At this rate, the bottle would last approximately 56 days. At .85 mg of full spectrum hemp oil per drop, this works out to be approximately .16 cents per mg. The 4 mg hard chews are a close second in terms of cost, at approximately .18 center per mg of full spectrum hemp oil.

Which is the most effective Treatibles product?

All Treatibles products contain the same proprietary organic full spectrum hemp oil and are equally effective. Customers do report that offering the straight oil (dropper bottle oil or ready packs) provide the fastest results.

How long has Treatibles been in business?

Treatibles was established in 2013. We blazed the trail as the first company to offer full spectrum hemp oil products for pets.

Does the Treatibles team work with any veterinarians?

Yes. In addition to our veterinary advisor, Dr. Lynn Bahr, we consult with a select group of veterinarians who are experts in the area of cannabinoids for pets. Our products can be found in veterinary practices across the nation.

What types of pet professionals use/recommend/carry Treatibles products?

Trainers, behaviorists, animal communicators, and groomers from all around the USA offer and recommend Treatibles to their clients.

Does the Treatibles team work with any animal rescues?

Yes. We regularly work with may rescue organizations across the USA. In addition to special pricing and product donations, we also volunteer our time locally here in California. Please visit our Rescue page for more information.

Even the healthiest pets need support every now and then (think stressful situations like Fourth of July fireworks, trips to the vet, introducing new pets to the home, etc.).

Can Treatibles be given puppies and kittens?

Yes. Treatibles are safe for cats, dogs and horses of all ages.

Is the packaging safe for children?

Unopened packages, dropper bottles, ready packs and capsules are child resistant. To be safe, keep all Treatibles products out of the reach of children and pets.

Are Treatibles third party lab tested? How are they tested and are the results made available to customers?
Treatibles third party tests our raw oil and each batch of every product to ensure consistency and efficacy and to rule out heavy metals and biocontaminants. Our testing method identifies the full spectrum of cannabinoids present in each product and the exact milligram count of the beneficial cannabinoids in each serving. Lab results are available on the Treatibles website.
Why do the Certificate of Analysis (COA) results for Treatibles chews indicate that the supporting cannabinoids and terpenes are non-detectable? Does Treatibles use a CBD Isolate in these products?

All Treatibles products contain our proprietary organic full spectrum hemp oil, not a CBD isolate. Because only a few grams of Treatibles chews (hard and soft) can be lab tested at a time, supporting cannabinoids and terpenes often appear as ND (non-detectable) in the lab test results. A more accurate profile of the cannabinoid and terpene levels in our products can be found in the test results from our oil. To view the most recent results, click here.

What are phytocannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a group of naturally occurring chemical compounds present in both animals and the plant genus cannabis, which includes both hemp and cannabis. The prefix phyto means plant. Phytocannabinoids are cannabinoids derived from plants. For more information, please visit our The Science page.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biochemical communication system that regulates the peripheral and central nervous system (including the brain), immunological system, organs, and vital physiological functions. It promotes homeostasis, ensuring the major systems of the body work synergistically. When there is a deficiency of endocannabinoid production, the ECS’s multiple receptors utilize the addition of phytocannabinoids to help create calm, ease, and balance and provide support for relaxing, repairing or restoring. The naturally occurring compounds in hemp are important for the overall health of dogs, cats, humans, horses and all animals.

Dogs are especially responsive to these compounds as they have the highest concentration of cannabinoid receptors in their brains and bodies (even in their hair follicles!) compared to other animals, including humans.

Do all animals have an endocannabinoid system?
All animals except for insects have an endocannabinoid system.
When was the endocannabinoid system discovered?
The endocannabinoid system was first discovered in the 1960s by Israeli scientist, Rafael Mechoulam.
What does the endocannabinoid system regulate in the body?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biochemical communication system that regulates the peripheral and central nervous system (including the brain), immunological system, organs, and vital physiological functions. It promotes homeostasis, ensuring the major systems of the body work synergistically.
Are there any adverse side effects of using Treatibles?
To date, we have not received reports from customers or veterinarians regarding adverse effects or any negative side effects.
Can my pet take Treatibles with prescription or over the counter medications?
Although neither veterinarians nor customers have reported any contradictions, we do recommend talking with your veterinarian before offering Treatibles or any new herb or supplement to your pet.
Will my pet get high from Treatibles?
No, your pet will not get high from our products. The organic full spectrum hemp oil in Treatibles contains virtually no THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. Treatibles are non-psychoactive, non-toxic and safe.
Does freezing or exposure to oxygen affect the efficacy of full spectrum hemp oil?
Neither freezing nor exposure to oxygen diminishes the efficacy of full spectrum hemp oil.
Does full spectrum hemp oil have a flavor?
There is a slight flavor that many pets do not particularly enjoy. That’s why our chews come in a variety of flavors. The addition of MCT coconut oil to our dropper bottles also provides a pleasant taste cats and dogs love. For horses, we also include peppermint oil for a taste horses love.
Does heat diminish the effects of full spectrum hemp oil?
Heating at temperatures less than 400 degrees does not change the effectiveness of full spectrum hemp oil. During our infusion process, the oil is heated between 140 – 160 degrees, which actually enhances and protects the oil. Our chews are baked at temperatures less than 250 degrees.

Understanding Product Labels

Why do the Treatibles product labels not say “CBD” on them?
As members of the National Animals Supplement Council (NASC), we adhere to regulations set forth by the FDA and the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), which do not allow the terms CBD, cannabidiol or cannabinoid on any packaging, marketing materials or on our website.
Why are there both milligram and milliliter amounts on the label?
Milligrams are a measure of weight and milliliters measure the volume of liquid. The actual liquid in the dropper bottles is measured in milliliters while the weight of the whole bottle is measured in milligrams.
What does “proprietary blend” on your ingredient listing mean?
Together with our master cultivator partners, we have created a formula that features a beneficial blend of naturally occurring compounds including supporting terpenes and antioxidants, producing a truly distinct oil. By growing our own hemp, we have access to various genetics. This diversity enabled us to develop and maintain our proprietary blend.
Our formula cannot be duplicated by any other manufacturer.
What are inactive ingredients?
Inactive ingredients are included as stabilizers. This can include preservatives, thickeners, flavors, colors and more.
Where is the guaranteed analysis?
Because Treatibles are classified as a dosage form product and not a food by the FDA, guaranteed analysis is not applicable.
Are the active ingredients listed in order of volume or in alphabetical order?
Active ingredients are listed in descending order by weight/volume.
Are the inactive ingredients listed in order of volume or in alphabetical order?
Inactive ingredients are listed in alphabetical order.

Treatibles Hemp

Where is your hemp sourced?
We source the exceptional hemp oil in all Treatibles products from our organic hemp farm in South Carolina.
Is your hemp organic?
Yes. Our hemp is cultivated with 100% organic practices that exceed USDA organic regulations.
How do you extract your hemp oil?
We infuse rather than extract our oil. This proprietary solventless method results in the highest levels of non-psychoactive cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds being infused directly into our carrier oil, MCT coconut oil. The rich infusion requires no further processing and provides the greatest, most consistent levels of beneficial compounds found in all our products. To learn more, please visit the Our Hemp page.
Is your hemp oil full spectrum or an isolate?
Our hemp oil is full spectrum, meaning it sourced from the whole plant and includes a rich cannabinoid, terpene and antioxidant profile.
What is full spectrum hemp oil?
Full spectrum hemp oil includes a variety of naturally occurring compounds (cannabinoids, terpenes, antioxidants, essential fatty acids) from the whole plant, rather than isolating only one or two.
What type of soil is your hemp grown in?
We grow our own hemp giving us complete control of the environment and soil. We utilize permaculture, an agricultural ecosystem that simulates the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems. Permaculture is designed to be sustainable.
Why is hemp from China potentially toxic?
According to The Economist, the most neglected threat to public health in China is toxic soil, which contains elevated levels of heavy metals including lead and arsenic. In 2014 the Chinese government published a national soil survey which showed 250,000 square kilometers of farmland was contaminated by organic and inorganic chemical pollutants and by metals such as lead, cadmium and arsenic. Sewage irrigation, fertilizers and pesticides are also culprits throughout the country. Many people are unaware that hemp labeled as being from Europe is often grown in China and processed in Europe.
Why is the oil in Treatibles products clear? Does that mean it has been diluted?
The color of the oil in hemp products is determined by the carrier oil, not the quality of the oil. For example, hempseed oil may give a greenish tint while MCT coconut oil remains clear.

How many chews are an appropriate serving for my pet?
We recommend one small chew for every 10lbs of a pet’s weight and one large chew for every 40lbs of a pet’s weight. Keep in mind that this is an average serving size. Some pets may need an extra half or full serving for desired results.
How long will the effects from the chews last?
Effects generally last anywhere from 4 – 8 hours.
How many servings are in one bag of chews?
There are 45 chews in the large size chew bag and 75 chews in the small size chew bag. The servings per bag varies based on each pet’s weight. For example, a bag of large chews for an 80lb dog receiving two servings per day would be 11 days. A bag of small chews for a 10lb dog receiving two servings per day would be 37 days.
My pet does not seem to enjoy the hard chews, what other products can I offer?

There is a full line of Treatibles products to choose from including oil dropper bottles in three potencies, capsules and soft chews.

Oil Dropper Bottle Oils

How many servings in a full dropper?
The amount of servings per dropper depends on the weight of the pet. For example, a full dropper of our 90 mg oil is 3 mg. For a 30 lb. dog, that would equal one serving. For a 15 lb. dog, that would equal two servings.
How can I measure the serving size?
Our scored pipette helps to simplify measuring. There are marks for .25 mg. .50 mg. .75 mg and 1 mg. The dosage is based on each pet’s weight. Because our oil dropper bottles are available in three potencies, the amount will be different with each. Please refer to our Dosage Card for an appropriate starting dose.
What potencies are your oil dropper bottles available in?
Dropper bottles for cats and dogs come in three potencies – 90 mg, 250 mg, and 750 mg. We also offer a 1500 mg high potency dropper bottle for horses.
Will mixing the oil into my pet’s food affect the absorption?
From what our customers have shared with us, mixing our oil into food may slow down the absorption, however the efficacy remains intact. When given orally, the body does start absorbing the full spectrum hemp oil through the mucosal membranes in the mouth, which does speed up the absorption rate.
Is the MCT Coconut oil safe for pets with pancreatitis?
Medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) are a form of fat that does not require pancreatic enzymes for digestion so it is often tolerated by dogs with pancreatitis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and other forms of malabsorption. Because each pet is a unique individual, we recommend talking with your veterinarian before adding any nutrient or supplement to the diet of a pet with pancreatitis.
Are the higher potency oils safe for cats?
Yes, they are safe. When offering a higher potency product, less oil is needed per serving.
What are the benefits of MCT Coconut Oil?

I have several pets, which oil is appropriate for my family?
For a multi-pet home, we often recommend our 750 mg oil dropper bottle because it is appropriate for cats, dogs (and all animals, including pet parents) and serving sizes can be adjusted for each pet’s body weight.
What is the difference between the human and pet oil?
The organic full spectrum hemp oil is the same in both the pet and human line, however the human oil dropper bottle contains a flavorful peppermint oil that most pets do not enjoy.
Can my pet take the human oil, and I can I take the pet version?
Yes, however the human oil does contain peppermint oil and many pets simply do not enjoy the taste.
Is peppermint oil safe for pets?
Yes, peppermint oil is safe for pets and is often used (diluted) to ease itchy skin on dogs. In large doses, it can be considered toxic, as almost all undiluted essential oils can be. Internally, it is safe when diluted, however too much can cause vomiting. Considering the strength of our 1500 mg oil, a dog would only ingest a few drops of total oil, with only a miniscule amount of that being peppermint.

Fun fact: Catnip is a part of the mint family. In addition to the euphoric effect it has on 70% off cats, the fresh and dried leaves (sometimes brewed into a tea) also work well to quell stomach upset in cats and dogs and humans.

What is the best way to store my oil?
Keep oil in a cool, dry place, like a pantry or drawer. We do not recommend refrigerating our oil.
Can the droppers be used for all animals?
Yes. We offer three potencies for companion animals of all sizes, plus a high potency 1500 mg oil made specifically for horses that contains peppermint oil.

The higher potency dropper bottles (250 mg and 750 mg) are often most convenient for multiple pet families.

Ready Packs

Can a small dog use the Ready Packs for cats?
Yes. For dogs weighing less than 25 lbs, the 2.5 mg Ready Packs for cats is appropriate. The oil in both sizes of the Ready Packs is exactly the same; it is the potency that is different.
Is the oil in the Ready Packs the same as in the dropper bottles?
Yes. It is simply pre-measured for convenience.
My cat is only 10 pounds – is the 2 mg Ready Pack too much for her?
We have found that the cannabinoid receptors in cats are not as sensitive as dogs generally are meaning that like humans, more milligrams per 10 lbs of body weight is often needed for desired results. For cats, this can mean 2 mg per every 10 lbs of body weight or more. This is based on feedback from customers, veterinarians and members of the Treatibles family. Because our oil is non-psychoactive and non-toxic, there is no risk of overdose.
What situations are the Ready Packs appropriate for?
  • Travel
  • Trips to the Vet
  • Veterinary Appointments
  • Grooming Appointments
  • First Aid Kits
  • Evacuation Kits
  • Situational Anxiety (Fireworks! Unexpected Guests! Thunder Storms!)
Why use a Ready Pack over a dropper bottle oil?
  • Pocket-sized package for easy access and transportation
  • Fast, effective relief
  • Doses can be increased according to each pet’s individual needs

My dog weighs less than 100 pounds, is it safe to offer the 10 mg capsule?
Yes, it is safe. Our full spectrum hemp oil is non-toxic and contains no psychoactive ingredients. There is not a risk of overdose.

We have found that 60 or 70 lb. dogs experiencing severe discomfort often do quite well with our 10 mg capsules.

Why is there MCT Coconut Oil in the capsules?
We add a small amount of MCT coconut oil to our capsules to help increase the absorption of the full spectrum hemp oil. The liver metabolizes MCT oil as it would a carbohydrate, thereby utilizing the hemp oil right away instead of storing the oil in fat cells.
Can small animals use capsules?
Generally, we recommend either dropper bottle oil, Ready Packs or chews for pets less than 60 lbs. For smaller pets, puncturing the capsule and adding the desired amount of the oil to food is an option.
Can the capsules be used for all animals?
Capsules are wonderful for large dogs, horses and many other animals. As a matter of fact, there is currently a bear and a sea lion taking Treatibles capsules daily.
