National Puppy Mill Survivor Day
People across the country recognize National Puppy Mill Survivor Day every September 30th. During this observance, advocates honor the lives of dogs rescued from commercial breeding facilities and remember the dogs who never gained freedom. The advocacy organization Bailing Out Benji established the holiday in September 2021. Bailing Out Benji intentionally positioned the holiday on the final day of Puppy Mill Awareness Month so advocates can highlight the connection between retail pet stores and commercial breeding facilities.
