If you’ve ever seen a friendly, floppy-eared puppy wearing a badge and a bright smile, you’ve likely met Safetypup®. Every year, we celebrate Safety Pup Day February 12, a dedicated awareness effort by the National Child Safety Council (N.C.S.C.) to make the world a little less scary and a lot more secure for our littlest citizens.

Safety doesn’t have to be a lecture. In fact, when it comes from a furry friend, kids are much more likely to listen, learn, and remember.

Who is Safetypup®?

Created by the N.C.S.C., Safetypup® isn’t just a mascot; he’s a teacher. Since his debut, he has been the face of child safety education across the country. His mission is simple: To help children learn how to avoid a variety of hazards through positive reinforcement rather than fear.

By using a character that children find approachable and “paws-itively” charming, the N.C.S.C. bridges the gap between serious safety rules and a child’s imagination.
