Pets Lifeline is dedicated to protect and improve the lives of cats and dogs in need throughout the Sonoma Valley in Northern California. The organization offers sheltering and adoption, education, and a variety of community programs.
“Pets Lifeline is the only safe haven for homeless and abandoned cats and dogs in Sonoma Valley. Each year the demand for our services grows, yet expenses continue to exceed our donations,” shared Sara Rusmisel, Administrative Coordinator.
Established in 1983, Pets Lifeline came into being out of necessity and a deep love and respect for animals. Prior to 1982, there were no shelters or rescue groups in the area dedicated to the special circumstances surrounding stray and abandoned dogs and cats. This motivated a small group of dedicated animal lovers to join together and create the animal welfare group that one year later would become Pets Lifeline.
Animals were placed in temporary foster care or housed in makeshift quarters until 1987 when the group’s physical shelter was constructed.
The facility accommodates 13 dogs and 50 cats. With the help of the foster care volunteers, Pets Lifeline is able to help many more animals. The organization helps nearly 500 cats and dogs each year find their forever home.
For the last few years, Pets Lifeline has been providing Treatibles products to cats and dogs in their shelter and in foster homes who are exhibiting stress or anxiety. They continually report success stories to us and we are sharing some here.
We do encourage you to check out the Pets Lifeline website and support them by either making a donation or sharing this post with your friends.
